Our Story
The Czech Women’s Hockey Report is an independent English-language platform dedicated to covering Czech women’s hockey with depth, context, and purpose. Founded by Hockey player, coach, and writer Preston Huntington, ČWHR was built to spotlight one of the most compelling stories in the global women’s game: the rise of Czechia as a serious force in women’s hockey. Through original reporting, player interviews, analysis, and event coverage, the project focuses on the athletes, teams, and cultural storylines driving that rise from the Czech national program to the PWHL, European leagues, and NCAA hockey.
Preston brings together two long-standing passions: hockey and Czechia. A lifelong hockey player and coach, he currently serves as Director of Goaltending Development for the Loudoun Knights AA program in Virginia. At the same time, he has spent nearly two decades studying Czech history, culture, and politics, including graduate work in international relations focused on Czech topics. ČWHR grew naturally from that intersection.
The project began after attending the 2024 IIHF Women’s World Championship and experiencing firsthand the energy, pride, and significance surrounding the Czech national team. That trip crystallized an idea: Czech women’s hockey (European women’s hockey as a whole) deserved more sustained, high-quality English-language coverage. What started as a passion project quickly became something more.
Today, ČWHR has grown into a credible independent voice in the space, featuring interviews with players, original feature writing, regular coverage of Czech players abroad, and media presence at PWHL and IIHF events. While independent in scale, the project is guided by a professional standard and a clear mission: to tell the story of women’s hockey with seriousness, respect, and enthusiasm.
ČWHR is supported in countless ways by Preston’s wife, Jenny, and his friend Dan, both of whom have helped shape the project from the beginning.
Women’s hockey is growing. Czech women’s hockey is rising with it. ČWHR exists to help tell that story well.

About the Creator
Preston lives in Northern Virginia in the United States of America. He resides with his wife, and his dog, Roland the Corgi. He is a dedicated and passionate lover of the game of hockey.
Preston currently serves as the Director of Goaltending Development at the Loudoun Knights Hockey Club, based in Leesburg, VA where he trains U8-U18 players. His day to day sees him serve as a Consultant for Deloitte, where he concentrates his efforts on the future of autonomous vehicles and emerging infrastructure.
